Rosal Limestone with Bourgogne Finish

Silver Travertine

Stone Connection Australia is excited to announce the arrival of our newest version of Rosal limestone in our classic Bourgogne finish. Reminiscent of a classic French farmhouse floor or relaxing beach house hideaway, Bourgogne creates a look both classic and fresh. The stone's colour is light linen with subtle shells scattered randomly throughout. For finish we've given the product a great patina by tumbling and brushing the surface. Through both processes, years of subtle wear and classic sawing of the edges have been recreated thus providing a soft smooth texture under foot. With its refreshing colour palette, Rosal is highly versatile with most modern decor. Suited for both interior and exterior use, Rosal can be carried throughout a project for creating a beautiful and peaceful escape from the headaches of life.

Granite Grid Pavers

Black Pearl Pavers Grid Tiles

Exclusive New Design Grid Tiles by Stone Connection Australia!

Stone Connection Australia introduces its latest design on a landscape standard the "Grid" series.  Using standard granite colours popular for paving and cobbles, each tile has been precisely scored to give a clean uniform cobble look  installed without the irregular and sloppy grout lines often associated.  As an alternative to the cobbles on mesh, Grid tiles are uniform, easy to handle and simple to install.  Each score line measures 5mm in width and deep enough to grout.  Upon a clients final decision, tiles can either be grouted or left naked.  As the standard tile sizing is 400x400, installers can easily mount on the substrate without having to "eyeball" grout joints for uniformity.   Each 400x400 piece gives the illusion of 16 cobbles.  Priced competitively to the sheeted cobbles, the "Grid" series is a fantastic alternative for clients to consider.

Striato Travertine Vein Cut

Striato Travertine Vein Cut now at Stone Connection Australia!

Stone Connection Australia is proud to announce its new arrival of Striato Travertine Vein Cut from Turkey.  These tiles are a classic medium shade similar in appearance to the Italian Romano.  Vein-cut is the most classic and enduring look in travertine. Being cut this way, it shows the layers built up over millions of years and gives a lovely linear appearance. Our Vein Cut Travertine comes filled and honed leaving a lovely matte finish.  In addition to the alternative appearance of the cross-cut, vein-cut can be more suitable for heavy traffic areas as the holes are long, narrow and deep vs. the wide, shallow fill found on cross-cut.

Travertine is one of the most frequently used stones in modern architecture and works well with modern interior colour schemes. This stone is durable and commonly used for flooring and wall cladding in all areas, including  some wet areas. When used on walls the veins running across each tile look particularly effective. It is also great for fireplaces, paving patios and garden paths. Two iconic installations within the city are the Ivy Bar and Art Museum.

Sizes Available:
* 610 x 305 x 12mm
* 812 x 406 x 15mm
* 914 x 457 x 15mm

Jura Grey Limestone

Jura Grey Limestone has arrived at Stone Connection Australia!

Stone Connection is proud to introduce Jura Grey to its collection of natural stone. Jura Grey is a limestone originating from Germany, formed in the Jurassic period around 180 million years ago. It consists of natural glass/quartz veins and variable fossils on a blue-grey background. The effect it gives off is true classic with a contemporary twist making it perfect for both modern and traditional architecture.

The Jura Grey limestone is a considerably hard limestone preferred for flooring, walls, cladding and diverse stonework. This limestone has gained its reputation for its durability, hardness and favourable technical properties, especially if compared with similar limestones. It is also a limestone with considerable demand on the European and international markets. It is today common to find applications of the Jura Grey limestone on several exterior cladding applications, where it is applied using different posing techniques. The Jura limestone also works wonderfully for masonry, garden decoration and interior decoration for foyers, bathrooms and kitchens.

Sizes Available:
  • 812 x 406
  • 610 x 305
  • 20mm slabs
  • 30mm slabs

For more information on how you can use this versatile natural stone for your next project, call Stone Connection on (02) 9790 4811 or visit our showroom at 96-100 Canterbury Rd, Bankstown NSW 2200.

BENCHTOP SELECTION

Selecting the perfect benchtop material can be a fantastic challenge.  There are many opinions and insights, and it is often difficult to realize the truth.  At Stone Connection Australia, our observation is three main decision makers.  The first priority is finding the perfect colour.  Second is making the selection fit the budget.  The third element, that we at Stone Connection Australia feel should be the most important, is function.

For surfaces, the market’s main choices are natural stone, engineered stone and laminated type finishes.  Natural stone and engineered are the most comparable for both price and function, and both have different pros and cons.

With bench-tops, the main function is protecting the cabinets.  Aside from function, with kitchen and bath design, the bench surfaces are the most beneficial in adding value.  The reason for this is that bench-tops are the crowning jewel for both adding individuality and drawing attention.  For example, a made in China cabinet and Italian import are difficult to distinquish until finding the brand name and seeing the interior construction.  Benches sit proudly on top for everyone to view.   By being such a critical design feature, it is also important to select a product that will withstand the test of time and keep your project beautiful for years to come.

For selecting, we outline what to expect from each product:
Granite is the most enduring product for durability.  It is highly scratch resistant, heat resistant and natural.  If you examine tops made 20-years past, they will still look brand new.   Granite is suitable for both inside and outside use.  Today granite is available in hundreds of colours and can easily suit any design. The cost can range from very affordable to expensive. The cost is based primarily on supply and demand.

Marble, travertine and limestone are very classic and beautiful.  Featured in most magazines, they are very popular choices.  However, there are some downfalls to using.  Marble, limestone and travertine are soft and will react to acidity.  If used in a high traffic area (i.e. kitchen), these products should be honed.  This will aid in not seeing wear as a full polish will project any scratches and polish burn from acid (lemons, vinegar, etc..).  All three are porous products, but with proper sealing stains can be avoided.  Direct contact with extreme heat and use as a cutting surface should be avoided.  Again cost can range from low to extremely high based upon supply and demand.

Engineered stone.  Although Stone Connection does not sell engineered products, we will admit they are highly suitable for many purposes and are popular.  The main benefit of engineered products is ease of fabrication and selection.  Being man-made they are very uniform.  When using engineered stone, it will show wear after years of use unlike granite, are not suited for cutting or extreme heat.  Last, use outside should be avoided.  Because engineered stone is composed of resin and not natural, the UV rays of the sun will discolour the composition with exposure.   For cost, it is related more to manufacture marketing vs. supply and demand.  Most products are made with exactly the same process and machines but just vary by country of origin.

Hopefully this insight benefit you when deciding on your choice of Benchtop.  To personally view our natural stone selection of granite, marble, onyx, travertine, limestone, slate and sandstone tiles and slabs, our showroom is open to the public.  Located a short drive south-west of Sydney we are located at 96-100 Canterbury Rd, Bankstown, NSW 2200.  Showroom hours are Monday- Friday 8am- 5pm, Saturdays 10am- 2pm.
