Rosal Limestone with Bourgogne Finish

Silver Travertine

Stone Connection Australia is excited to announce the arrival of our newest version of Rosal limestone in our classic Bourgogne finish. Reminiscent of a classic French farmhouse floor or relaxing beach house hideaway, Bourgogne creates a look both classic and fresh. The stone's colour is light linen with subtle shells scattered randomly throughout. For finish we've given the product a great patina by tumbling and brushing the surface. Through both processes, years of subtle wear and classic sawing of the edges have been recreated thus providing a soft smooth texture under foot. With its refreshing colour palette, Rosal is highly versatile with most modern decor. Suited for both interior and exterior use, Rosal can be carried throughout a project for creating a beautiful and peaceful escape from the headaches of life.

Premium Light Travertine Pavers

Light Travertine Pavers

Premium Light Travertine Pavers

Stone Connection Australia has just received its new stock of Premium Light Travertine Pavers. Originating from Turkey, they are available in two sizes and come tumbled, honed and un-filled. The pavers are literally put into a drum with rocks and chunks of cement and "tumbled" to be finished. The result is a paver that has a worn face and edges, giving the stone a more rustic, natural look and ensures the edges are are worn to a smooth safe finish.

Sizes Available:
  • 610 x 406 x 30mm
  • 610 x 406 x 12mm

Travertine is a great choice around swimming pools and wet areas as it has a high natural salt resistance. It's light, neutral shade also makes it ideal for outdoor entertainment areas as it will remain cool under the foot. It has a high co-efficient of friction meaning that Travertine will provide a safe walking and play service in these areas for the whole family.  It requires little maintenance and is a hard-wearing, versatile natural stone used for many applications.

Striato Travertine Vein Cut

Striato Travertine Vein Cut now at Stone Connection Australia!

Stone Connection Australia is proud to announce its new arrival of Striato Travertine Vein Cut from Turkey.  These tiles are a classic medium shade similar in appearance to the Italian Romano.  Vein-cut is the most classic and enduring look in travertine. Being cut this way, it shows the layers built up over millions of years and gives a lovely linear appearance. Our Vein Cut Travertine comes filled and honed leaving a lovely matte finish.  In addition to the alternative appearance of the cross-cut, vein-cut can be more suitable for heavy traffic areas as the holes are long, narrow and deep vs. the wide, shallow fill found on cross-cut.

Travertine is one of the most frequently used stones in modern architecture and works well with modern interior colour schemes. This stone is durable and commonly used for flooring and wall cladding in all areas, including  some wet areas. When used on walls the veins running across each tile look particularly effective. It is also great for fireplaces, paving patios and garden paths. Two iconic installations within the city are the Ivy Bar and Art Museum.

Sizes Available:
* 610 x 305 x 12mm
* 812 x 406 x 15mm
* 914 x 457 x 15mm

TRAVERTINE - BEAUTIFUL BEIGE

TRAVERTINE - BEAUTIFUL BEIGE
PDFPrintE-mail
  travetine tiles, beautiful beige
Stone Connection Australia’s travertine will forever change your perception of what beige can do. The subtle tones, soft irregular patterns and gentle feel are all the great design features of the stone. Travertine is formed through the erosion of limestone deposits by underground rivers, geysers and streams giving the stone its distinctive, smooth yet porous surface. We hand-select our stone from some of the most notable travertine producing quarries and factories in the world, which ensures that we only offer the most desirable colours and finishes for the Australian market

 For a modern and visually stunning finish for both inside and out, travertine pavers, travertine slabs, travertine pool copings and stair treads can be selected. Stone Connection Australia offers one of the largest selections of high quality travertine tiles and travertine stone flooring, countertop and paver products with prices and sizes to suit any budget and any design you have in mind. Our standard colours are classico (beige), ivory (light), noce (dark brown) and silver. Other travertine colours also include; rosso (red), scabbis (yellow/ red), walnut (light brown) and Italian Silver.

With travertine, there are many different finishes as well. The two main ones are filled and un-filled. Filled is just when the holes have been grouted by the factory. There are many types of fills used. Cement based is the most common. It is as durable as any other and easy to fix. Epoxy fill is when a clear base is used in the holes. Although epoxy is very attractive and seems better due to high cost, it is not practical for all applications. If used outside, UV will colour change. Epoxy is also only proper if used in vein-cut travertine. This is because the holes are short and deep on vein-cut vs. Cross-cut where the holes are long and shallow. Other products are mastic. If un-happy with the factory fill, un-filled is the way to go. Use your own colour selection on grout for a perfect finish.
When selecting Travertine, the process can be very daunting. When making a decision the most important factor is whether or not the aesthetics meet your desired look and the material is of proper calibration for installation. The main difference between different countries is the colours available. Roman Classico, Turkish Classico and Classico from Iran can all have very different appearances, while at the same time very similar. Turkish silver is very different from Italian Silver travertine. With our stock we source for consistency in both colour and calibration. Each quarry has different looks and each factory different quality control. If a product is not calibrated properly, then the savings is not significant.
